2 month check up

We went on June 21st for Charlie's 2 month check up, and the dreaded vaccines. Charlie of coarse cried when I had to take him down to just a diaper to get weighed, but once I got him wrapped up in a blanket back in the exam room he fell asleep. When the Dr. Sureka came in to do her check up he got a little grumpy because I had to wake him up, but after a bit he cheered up and he actually even started smiling at her. He showed off his newest trick and rolled from his tummy to his back for her ( he did that for the first time on 6/16/11). Dr. Sureka said he looked pretty good, he gained barely enough weight, but she said he looked healthy and that we will just have to keep an eye on his weight. He now weighs 10 lbs 7 oz, and is 23 1/2 in long. After the doctor was done with his check up, she sent the nurse in to do his shots, which I was really not looking forward to. I had given him some Tylenol before we went to the appointment because my mom said thats what she always did for me and it seemed to help. First she gave him one orally, just this stuff she had to drink, which he did good with because he always likes his gas drops and vitamin D. Then she pulled out the needles :( She made me lay him down on the table and she gave him 2 in one leg and 1 in the other. He did his painful cry, and seemed to look at me like he was saying "why did you let her hurt me mommy".  As soon as the nurse left the room I started crying, I felt sooooo terrible. I decided to nurse him a bit before we left to help calm him down. It was so sad to hear him whimper in between gulps. He did pretty good that day, and was for the most part his normal happy self. The only real difference was that he slept more. Nick came home when we got back from the doctors and spent the rest of the day with Charlie and I so he could help out if Charlie wasn't feeling good. It was nice to have him there.

We had Nick's first fathers day recently also. We played at church that morning, and Charlie got to sit in both services with mine and Nick's parents so he could hear us play. After church we went out to eat with both our parents, then we headed home to relax for a bit, and after that we met up with an old church friend that no longer lives around here. We hung out with Bodi and his family for a few hours and then went home a relaxed a bit longer before going to bed. I think Nick enjoyed his first fathers day. Charlie and I got him a little photo book of pictures of Charlie and family, and he liked it.

Charlie and I have gotten to spend some extra time lately with some of my old high school friends because some of them have been in town for the summer which has been really nice. They all love Charlie, and fight over who gets to hold him next.

Charlie and I also made a trip down with my mom to our family orchard in springfield to visit my grandma. It is blueberry season, so we went out on a BEAUtiful day and picked some blueberries. I put Charlie in the moby wrap, he fell asleep, and I picked for about an hour. It was Charlie's first trip to the farm, and it was such a nice day out, I think I will always remember it.

Here is a video of Charlie rolling over for the first time!

2 months old!

I can't believe Charlie is already 2 months old. It is weird how his birth can seem like so long ago, and like just the other day at the same time. This last weekend was a very busy one, Nick had a Crossfit competition in bloomington on saturday morning and afternoon, then we had to rush back to peoria for a gig with the 42's saturday night. My mom and dad came over for the gig, and watched Charlie for me. They actually brought him to the show so that he could see his mom and dad play! Then on sunday morning Charlie and I ventured back over to bloomington to see some of my girl friends from high school ( his honorary aunts) We went out for breakfast, and sat around talking for 3 1/2 hours. It was so nice to catch up with everyone, and I'm so glad Charlie got to meet all of them.

Charlie is starting to do a lot better in his car seat, and riding in the car. I think the only reason he doesn't really like riding in the car is he is in the back all by himself and can't see anyone. He is a very social boy, so he really likes to be around people.

Here are a few pictures from this last weekend.

Fun day out!

Charlie is getting bigger everyday, and is starting to get more and more interactive with us. He is smiling s much now its crazy, and he sometimes even makes little laughing noises. He is starting to notice his toys more, and in general just looks at his environment like he is just taking it all in.

As for me, I had my 6 week check up, and was cleared to return to normal activity. I started back up at crossfit, and it feels sooooo good to be back. I have already lost 30 lbs ( I gained 50) and I would like to lose another 30 ( 10 more lbs then pre prego weight because I was in the middle of trying to lose weight when I got pregnant) I am trying to focus more on the cardio aspect of crossfit for now even though I love heavy lifting, I need to get rid of some of this fat before I go building up my muscles to much again. Me, Nick, Charlie, Jimmy, Nikki, and Jocelyn all went for a 3 mile walk the other day. Charlie seemed to like it ok, so we might try to make a habit of going for walks together.

Today Charlie and I met up with our friends Megan, and her son Kamden. We spent the morning, and into the afternoon a bit first out by the lake in Germantown, and then we moved over to her Aunts pool a few houses down from the lake after we saw a snake lol. I bought Charlie a little blowup raft with a canopy and used that for him to lay on outside of the pool, it worked great!

We had bath time when we got home, and it was the first bath time that charlie actually seemed to enjoy! Not only did he not cry, but he was even smiling!!! Here are a few pictures from our day.
