Leaks, Kicks, etc...

So I'm almost 18 weeks and I have had a few new developments in my pregnancy. Saturday morning Nick and I slept in a little bit and then got up and made breakfast, we went to crossfit to work out and then came home to relax a little while before we had to go to the gig we had that night. When we got back from crossfit I went to change out of my workout clothes and put my pjs back on and when I looked in the mirror what did I see....2 little wet spots on my chest...are you kidding me! So yes my body has already started producing colostrum the liquid substance that you produce first for baby because it is packed with all sorts of extra goodies that a new born needs, but I am only 17 weeks...not even half way and my boobs are already leaking! The good thing is that this is a sign that I will not have any problems breastfeeding, so I'm trying to look at the bright side.
Yesterday we went to Apple blossom farm with some friends and their 1 year old son, it's a cute little place with a petting zoo, and monster truck rides, and all sorts of goodies like apple cider doughnuts and kettle corn. After buying some of the goodies and trying all of the yummy free samples we were all standing looking at the animals when I felt my first real kick from the baby. Mostly I have just felt the butterfly movements, you know the ones that you are not sure if it's gas or the baby sometimes...lol, but this was definitely a kick. It was so neat to feel the baby like that, and I can't wait until that is a regular occurrence.
Between leaking and kicking this whole pregnancy thing is getting very real now. I am getting more and more excited, and also a little nervous as the due date approaches ever so slowly. I can't wait to find out what we are having in a couple weeks. As soon as we know the gender, I think everything will start getting fun. Getting the baby's room ready is something I am really looking forward to, and registering for little boy or girl stuff is going to be fun!
My belly is starting to show more, and I am looking less fat and more pregnant. I have gained about 6 lbs, which is right on track with where I should be, but it is very hard to watch the scale go up after working so hard to get it to go down for the last year. I know it is necessary to gain weight, and so far I am doing really well just gaining what I need to for the baby, but I have a feeling that the more I gain, the harder it is going to be to deal with seeing the numbers go up on that scale, but like I said before...totally worth the end result!

  1. It's crazy the changes your body goes through. Sometimes I don't know what to think about it, but I know i'm doing what I'm suppose to do.
Can't wait for you to find out the gender!
